Translating Degrees in AZ

Arizona does not offer any degrees that specifically train people to become translators but there are paths that Arizona residents can take to achieve this career goal.
  1. Degrees

    • The first step towards becoming a translator is to obtain an undergraduate degree in a foreign language. Two Arizona universities offer suitable degrees. Arizona State University offers bachelor's degrees in languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, German, French and Russian. The University of Arizona offers undergraduate degrees in French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish and also has an interpreter's center which offers training workshops for interpreters and translators.

    Recognition

    • Translators can boost their chances of successful careers by undertaking further training to become certified by a recognized organization such as the American Translators Association.

    Certification

    • The American Translators Association certifies people who wish to become translators. They must undertake an examination that tests their understanding and ability to faithfully translate from one language to another. This certification enables translators to cement their capability in their chosen career.
