Individuals interested in a career as a registered nurse with the Royal Air Force can enlist in a three-year training program. Prospective students must have at least 240 University & Colleges Admissions Service A-level points to be considered for the program.
The student nurse program is offered in collaboration with Birmingham City University. Students complete theoretical and laboratory training at the university and apply their knowledge and skills in clinical placements with the National Health Service and in military settings. After successfully completing the nursing curriculum, graduates must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council to be eligible for employment.
The curriculum in a three-year nursing program includes foundation programs that introduce students to nursing theory, science and the nursing profession. During the second and third years of the program, students can specialize in one or several areas. Specialty modules include primary care nursing, caring for older adults, acute and critical adult care, acute mental health problems and community care.
