How to Read a PowerPoint Textbook

Due to the high costs of school textbooks, some professors choose to compile the vital information into a PowerPoint presentation; that PowerPoint file can then be distributed to the students and read on a computer to glean the necessary information from the textbook. In order to read a PowerPoint textbook, you will need the right program on your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the PowerPoint file that contains the textbook information and save it on your computer's desktop. This will make the information easily accessible.

    • 2

Make sure that your computer has the Microsoft PowerPoint software installed; without it, you will not be able to properly read the text in the file.

    • 3

Double-click on the PowerPoint file in order to open it. The PowerPoint presentation will be opened using the software on your computer; you can click the "View Presentation" button in the PowerPoint menu to view the slides in fullscreen.

    • 4

Use the spacebar to click through the information contained in the slides; if the text is animated, each individual bullet point or piece of information will appear when you press the spacebar.

    • 5

Read the information presented to you in the PowerPoint textbook and take detailed notes about the information; writing notes will help solidify what you are learning in your mind, which makes recalling the information in the classroom or on a test easier.
