How to Search for Pennsylvania Colleges

The Pennsylvania Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary and Higher Education (OPHE) performs a number of functions, including providing support services to colleges and universities to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students. Finding and selecting a college in Pennsylvania does not have to be an overwhelming experience. Resources exist to make your college search easier.

      Access the Pennsylvania Department of Education's "Education Names and Addresses" web page. This page provides contact information for all educational institutions in the state of Pennsylvania, including colleges and universities by county. Find and click on the county of your choice. After clicking the link, choose from the list of public and private universities under the "Higher Education" heading.

      Visit College Board's website. Search for Pennsylvania colleges by name, location, major and other search criteria. Click "Find Your Match" to locate schools by type, size and setting. While on this web page, click the "Location" tab (located under the "College Match Maker" heading) and check the box next to Pennsylvania under the "Mid-Atlantic" region. Click "See Results" to view a list of all colleges in Pennsylvania.

      Access 411's website. Input keywords "Colleges" or "Universities" into the website's search engine. Enter "Pennsylvania" for the location and click "Find." View the list of schools and click on the college of your choice to view more detailed contact information.
