Located in Simi Valley, Eternity Bible College has been providing courses and degree programs in biblical studies since 2004. Students may choose to audit a class or two, pursue their certificate of biblical studies in a two-year program or commit to a bachelor of biblical studies which takes four years to complete. Average class size is 30 to 40 students. Courses focus on the history of civilization and religion, and students will be taken throughout the entire bible chronologically as they complete their program. Courses are also available online.
Azusa Pacific University is 26 miles northeast of Los Angeles. It is an evangelical Christian university which offers more than 80 degree programs on campus and online. For those pursuing a career in Christian education, ministry or missionary work, or for those purely wishing to expand their knowledge, degrees are offered in biblical studies, Christian ministries, theology and children's ministry. Courses focus on academic study of the scriptures, biblical translations and interpretation and life application. Students can also choose to spend time abroad at Azusa Pacific University's sister school in Jerusalem.
Established in 1923, Life Pacific College in San Dimas has been providing degrees in biblical studies and ministry for decades. Offering associate, bachelor, and master's degrees, Life Pacific College allows students to choose from a variety of course lengths and focuses. Independent study courses and online classes are available, allowing students to proceed at their own pace. Programs are designed to equip students for leadership roles in the Christian community. Courses include the history of Israel, cultural anthropology and the foundations of ministry.
Located in La Mirada, Biola University offers a certificate in biblical studies in preparation for missions work or involvement in a local congregation. To apply for the program, applicants must possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Upon course completion students will have learned central doctrines, the theme and main purpose for each book of the bible and the nature of the church and its ministries. The certificate is composed of 32 credits and must be completed in less than five years.
