After over 40 years of study and experimentation, Michael John Angel founded the Angel Academy of Art, which trains its students to become leaders in classic, realist painting. Set in two locations in the beautiful renaissance city of Florence, Italy, this three-year program focuses on traditional training, pushing each painter to find her greatest strength.
Founded in 1991, the Florence Academy of Art strives to provide the greatest level of instruction in drawing, painting and sculpture. When the school began, Daniel Graves hoped to take groups of students and promote artistic competition amongst them, encouraging the highest level of artistry. There are three programs offered, and to earn the full-time certificate in that area, you must complete the course in it's entirety. The intensive drawing program takes one year, the painting program is two years and the sculpture program is three years.
Located in Seattle, the Academy of Realist Art uses a beaux-arts of Europe curriculum and provides training in "traditional techniques of representation." Each area of drawing, painting and sculpting has a program designed to be completed in just 10 weeks. Students are encouraged to create their own work using creativity and imagination.
