Contact the school to find out what paperwork is going to have to be completed. The longer you were away from the school, the more paperwork is involved to readmit. Some schools will place a student on probation for not achieving a 2.0 GPA. The student will then have two semesters to bring the grade up. If this is not accomplished, then the student may be dismissed without the ability to re-enroll in the nursing program for that school.
Fill out all the paperwork that is required. Take time to fill out everything in as much detail as possible. You may be required to complete an essay stating the changes in your life that will now allow you to complete the program. The nursing coordinator is going to want to know why a provision should be made to allow you back into the program.
Appeal the school's decision for your dismissal, if this is the reason you are out of school. This will have to be done in writing, and in some cases, may have a time line for which it can be done. Part of the appeal process will require you to validate your skills. This could be through a written or performance exam.
Reapply to the school if it has been over a year since your departure. Some colleges will require you to reapply to the and possibly take entrance exams.
Show improvement at all levels. If the college does accept you, you may be under a silent probation. If grades, attitude and attendance are not at an acceptable level, the college has the right to dismiss you.
