Colleges for Polysomnography

Polysomnography is a type of sleep study. It is a diagnostic examination that involves the observation and analysis of physiologic variables during sleep. The process involves the recording and tracking of brain waves, blood oxygen levels and breathing and heart rates. It is used for the diagnosis of various sleeping disruptions and disorders. Several American colleges feature programs in the discipline.

The community college has been in existence since 1947 and offers two-year academic programs for certification and associate's degrees. The polysomnography program aims to prepare students for careers in allied health. The school offers a polysomnography technology program which assists individuals in the treatment and identification of various sleep disruptions, including narcolepsy, insomnia, parasomnias and sleep apnea. The program is geared toward those that are looking for careers in settings such as specialized clinics and hospitals.
