The Art Institute of Washington is a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta. Located in the Rosslyn section of Arlington, VA, on the side of the Potomac River across Washington, D.C., the campus is located conveniently near Rosslyn Metro station. Students can pursue a degree in design on the weekends or in the evenings with regular or on-line format in 2 to 3 years, depending on their degree. Degrees offered are Associates in Arts-Photographic Imaging, Video Production, or Web Design & Interactive Media; a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Arts & Animation, Photographic Imaging, Game Art & Design, Visual & Game Programming or Visual Effects & Motion Graphics; as well as diplomas in Commercial Photography, Video Skills or Web design.

The major higher education centre of the American Catholic church, Catholic University of America was founded in 1887. Initially a center for graduate studies, today it also offers undergraduate courses. It offers media and communication studies, drama and performing arts, including screen writing, play writing and directing. Courses in music history, theory and performance are offered in the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music. The college is classified as a private not-for-profit institution with courses up to a Doctoral degree. It is situated in Michigan Avenue in northeast Washington, D,C.
