With one of the largest, most diverse higher education systems in the world, the United States is an international leader in college and university education. The U.S. government requires universities to receive accreditation, which is done through associations such as the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

However, the U.S. Department of Education's website has information about accredited universities in every state in the country.
