Universities with Teaching Degrees

Many universities in the U.S. offer teaching degrees,. Some courses offered by these institutions can be completed online, and most have a variety of specializations, from early-childhood education to special education. All of these universities offer courses with online learning, but some schools have nationwide campuses where some classes can be taken in-person.
  1. University of Phoenix

    • University of Phoenix has a College of Education that offers many degree programs for prospective teachers. The school offers a Bachelor of Science in education/elementary teacher education. Students can go on to complete a Master of Arts in early childhood, elementary, secondary and special education. You can choose to study these courses either online or on-campus. The University of Phoenix also offers master's courses in curriculum and instruction-reading (i.e., different methods of helping students improve their reading skills), as well as teacher leadership and administration/supervision.

    Walden University

    • Walden University offers many online teaching degrees in a variety of fields related to education. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Walden offers higher level courses in teaching, such as its Teacher Preparation Program with a Master of Arts in Teaching, which is suited for anybody with a bachelor's degree who wants to become a teacher. The curriculum for the course is based on national industry standards, and the course is taught through video lessons from experts and practice in virtual and actual classroom settings. Walden University also offers courses in areas, such as early childhood studies, educational technology, special education and child development.

    Argosy University

    • Argosy University offers teaching degrees, both online and at campuses in Arizona, California, Illinois, Texas, Utah and Minnesota. The courses taught on campus can lead to teacher certification in that state, but the online courses offer no such certification. Argosy has courses in adult education and training, educational administration, multiple subject teacher preparation, single subject teacher preparation and higher and post-secondary education.

    Capella University

    • Capella University offers 14 courses in the field of education, and these courses are all recognized by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. Capella University is a wholly online university. Capella offers Master of Science courses in K-12 studies in education, leadership in educational administration, early childhood education, special education training and English language learning and teaching. The university offers graduate-level support in the form of academic advisers and writing coaches to help students reach their career goals. Financial aid experts are also available.
