Insert a superscripted Arabic numeral into the text to direct your reader to your footnote. Begin with "1," followed by "2," "3," and so on. These numbers should run consecutively throughout the document.
Begin every footnote with a numeral that corresponds to the superscripted numeral within the text.
Arrange bibliographic information for a book in the following format:
Footnote Number. Author's First Name Last Name, Title of Book in italics (City of Publication: Name of Publisher, Year of Publication), page number.
For example:
1. Charles Smith, Greatest Novel Ever (Chicago: Awesome Book Press, 2009), 188.
If the book has been translated or edited, list the name of the translator or editor after the title. For example:

Arrange a footnote for a journal article as follows:
Footnote Number. Author's First Name Last Name, "Title of Article," Title of Journal in italics volume number, issue number preceded by "no." (Year of Publication): Page Number.
For example:

Include the date of access and URL when citing a journal article accessed online. For example:

Arrange a footnote for a magazine article as follows:

Include the URL when citing a magazine article accessed online. For example:

Arrange a footnote for a non-periodical web page as follows:
Footnote Number. Author's First Name Last Name, "Title of Page," Title of Website in italics, last modified Month Day, Year, URL.
For example:

If no author is credited, begin your footnote with the title of the page. If no last modified date is listed, include the date on which you last accessed the page instead. For example:
