Grants for Film Study

Each year, thousands of students around the world enroll in film study programs at colleges and universities. Most instructors agree that the best way to learn filmmaking is to actually make films. But the cost of producing a film can be astronomical. Fortunately, there are grant programs that can allow filmmakers to continue their studies by completing their films. These grants range from a few thousand dollars to more than $100,000.
  1. Frameline Completion Fund

    • The Frameline Completion Fund gives grants to emerging and established gay, lesbian and transgender filmmakers. Grants from $5,000 to $7,000 are available for projects that are in their final stages of production. Submissions for the grant program are accepted for documentaries, educational films, animated or experimental projects that are about–or of interest to–gay, lesbian and transgender people. The Frameline Completion Fund has been around for more than 15 years and has helped more than 100 filmmakers complete films in their courses of study.
