Indiana Grants for College

If you are planning on going to college in Indiana and are in financial need, you may qualify for one or several grant awards to help defray the cost of tuition. Grant award money, unlike loans, is money that is given to you for your educational expenses and that you don't have to pay back. In order to qualify for grant awards, it is first necessary to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid from the federal government. The FAFSA can be completed online at the FAFSA site. See your school's financial aid office for assistance in preparing and submitting a paper-based FAFSA form.
  1. Frank O'Bannon Grant Program

    • The Frank O'Bannon Grant Program is made available to all Indiana college students by the state government. The grant is given on a "need-based" basis. The exact amount of the award changes annually to reflect the current dollar value and tuition costs. In order to qualify for the grant, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or resident, a resident of Indiana and have a high school degree or GED. The Frank O'Bannon Grant is only available to students attending an eligible college or university. To see if your school qualifies, look on the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana's website. Only full-time students, those taking a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester, are eligible.
