Start looking for money to finish graduate school as soon as you determine you're going to need it. You don't want to miss a deadline because you started looking too late.
Switch from a master's to a PhD program, if possible. It's easier to find money for school while earning your PhD because many doctorate programs support their students.
Fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid and add your current school to the form. If you qualify as a low-income student, you may be able to receive grant money from the government or subsidized loans.
Talk to the university you're attending. Your school or department may offer scholarships and grant money for which you can apply. Remember, your school wants you to finish your degree.
If you have a job, talk to your employer. Your company may offer education benefits you're not aware of. Many will pay for their employees' education. If you don't have education benefits, but you're in a science, education or language field, your employer may be willing to fund the research you complete while you finish graduate school.
