Start by asking your high school or college career counselor to help you locate some scholarships. Some scholarships are national and some are specific to the according school. Make a spreadsheet of each scholarship that you are applying for along with the required materials and deadlines.
Complete your application and supplementary materials such as letters of recommendation, a personal statement and transcripts. You may also have to audition and need to prepare a monologue.
Submit your scholarship application package well in advance of the deadline to allow ample time for processing.
Maintain a contact information list for the scholarships that you have applied for. Then you will be able to follow up after the deadline if necessary.
