Research all the business schools. Most universities or business schools will have a limited number of scholarships to award and the amount is usually in the single figures. Each school will have their own set of conditions that must be met before they decide to award a scholarship. However, due to the limited number of scholarships available it does not automatically mean you will get a scholarship to a UK business school even if you meet the criteria.
Apply and pay the deposit. One of the rules of scholarship award that seems to be a given is that you must have been accepted to the school and have paid your deposit before you can apply for a scholarship. Another condition is that you have a high level of academic achievement. Eligibility will also be based on your financial situation and means of income.
Universities and business schools have various forms and levels of scholarship and eligibility. There are certain scholarships available that only overseas students are able to apply for. There are also certain scholarships open only to applicants from developing countries.
What the scholarship covers. Again this will depend on the business school or university. Many will offer a set amount of the full four year study costs. There is a scholarship at Nottingham that offers full course fees and living accommodation fees up to £12,036 per year for one student from an underdeveloped country. Many will have four or five scholarships to give out that will pay around 50% of the fees for the full course.
Get you application in early. The high number of applications would suggest that the earlier the better if you intend to get a scholarship for a UK business school. Although not a guarantee, it may help your chances.
As well as scholarships there are many other forms of financial help available to students. Many universities and schools have bursaries available that do not have to be repaid and are awarded depending on your financial means. If you are in full time employment you may be able to receive a career development loan from banks such as Barclays that will spread out the costs of studying, and of course there are always the repayable student loans.
Move to Scotland. Unlike England, students who are successful in gaining a place at a Scottish university do not have to pay course fees. Scottish universities have a very high rate of applications due to this rule, so the earlier you submit your application the better.
