To help those who have lost their jobs due to the recession, Delaware offers the Governor's Education Grant for Unemployed Workers, which is designed to help people obtain education and training to improve their employment prospects. According to the Delaware Department of Education, the grant helps "qualified individuals with training costs associated with learning a new skill or upgrading their current one," and is worth $2,000. Applicants must be unemployed, be registered with the state's department of labor, be recommended by a DET Career Counselor and attend a school approved by the state to participate in the grant program.

The Agenda for Delaware Women Trailblazer Scholarships is open to female residents of Delaware to help them pay for an education at either a nonprofit private or public university or college. Ten renewable grants for $2,500 each are awarded each year, based on a combination of 50 percent financial need and a combination of leadership, community and school involvement, participation, and vision. Applicants must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The Milton L. Draper Student-Alumni Award is awarded to sophomore and junior students at the University of Delaware who show "outstanding performance in fostering student-alumni interaction" and also "exemplify...characteristics of leadership, dedication and enthusiasm for the university." Applicants must be full-time students at the University of Delaware and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify for the grant.
