Meet the basic requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be between 17 to 26 years of age
- Obtain a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher
- Score at least a 920 on the SAT (math and verbal) or 19 on the ACT(excludes writing score)
Prepare for the physical assessment. In order to receive the four-year scholarship, the Army ROTC requires their candidates to meet certain physical standards. The assessment is known as the 'Presidential Challenge Physical Fitness Test' and is needed to complete the application process. You will need to perform a series of tests, including push ups, curl ups and a 1-mile run. Download the physical assessment document provided by the Army ROTC to receive more details about the test.
Commit to a four or eight-year service commitment with the Army. If you are applying as a high school student, you will need to commit to serving the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) for four years and the Army full time for an additional four years.
Obtain and complete the Army ROTC Four-Year College Scholarship Application. Potential candidates can apply online on the Army ROTC website or by mail. You need to complete the application form, ROTC physical assessment card and the ROTC overseas interview form and bring it to your nearest recruiting office. Check the website or call 1-888-944-ARMY for application deadlines.
Wait for a recruiter to contact you about the status of your application. If you applied online, you can check the status of your application by logging into your account. If you are granted the scholarship, you will need to go to your nearest recruiter office to complete the paperwork.
