Log on to the Internet and access the FAFSA website. You can file your application completely online. If you do not have access to a computer, you may request a paper application by calling FAFSA's support number.
Write down your PIN from the previous year's FAFSA application. If you forgot your PIN, you can request it from the PIN website by supplying the correct personal information when asked. You can also request a duplicate PIN if you wish.
Click the "Start" button on the homepage of the FAFSA website and then enter the required information. You will be taken to the next step, where you will inform the government that you wish to file a new FAFSA for the upcoming school year.
Click the "Start Current School Year" button after you enter the welcome screen of your FAFSA file. You should check the top of the page to make sure you are logged in to the correct account before proceeding.
Enter all requested information and then click "Submit FAFSA Application." Once they confirm your submission, you will have successfully changed the year for your FAFSA application.
