How to Calculate the Combined SAT Score

The SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, is the most widely used college admissions assessment in the U.S. that most people take during their junior or senior year of high school. The SAT tests your knowledge of writing, reading and mathematics and each of those sections is scored on an 800 scale. The highest achievable score on the exam is 2400.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at your SAT score report. Locate your score for each of the three sections, critical reading, writing and math.

    • 2

Sum the scores from step 1. For example, if you score 650 on the critical reading section, 700 on the writing section and 550 on the math section, then your summed score should be 1900.

    • 3

Check your combined score to ensure that it ranges from the minimum score of 600 to the maximum score of 2400. If it does not fall within this range then you have miscalculated and should check steps 1 and 2.
