How to Convert the ACT1 to the SAT

The ACT and SAT are two standardized tests that colleges use at part of the evaluation process when considering potential students. Some schools only use the SAT test score, so if an applicant took only the ACT, it may be pertinent to find the equivalent SAT score. This requires a bit of math, because there is no standard formula for this and most colleges use their own formulas. To get an approximate translation, a simple comparison of scored percentages over the entire sampling of the tests.

  Take your ACT score and compare it to the percentage chart at "SAT-ACT Conversion Chart" to find what percentage of the population you score in. A 36 is a perfect score and would put you in the 99th percentile, meaning you scored higher than 99 percent of all people taking the test.

  Find the corresponding percentage on the SAT percentages chart. The SAT is divided into two major sections, Reading and Math. Use your percentage score to find both your reading and math SAT score approximations.
