Know the three different versions of the ASVAB. They are the CAT-ASVAB, Met-Site ASVAB and the Student ASVAB.
Determine the specific ASVAB you're taking in order to prepare properly.
Prepare for the sub-tests of all three ASVAB tests. General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto Information, Shop Information, Mechanical Comprehension and Assembling Objects.
Make a study schedule. Gauge the amount of leisure time availble to study for the ASVAB. Complete a list of times available per week. Set the schedule and stick to it.
Learn what is covered in the General Science sub-test. You will be tested on life, earth, space and physical sciences in this section.
Prepare for the Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension sub-tests. The Word Knowledge sub-test assesses you ability in finding the meanings of words through the use of synonyms. Paragraph Comprehension tests on how well you pull information from paragraphs.
Understand the Mathematics Knowledge and Arithmetic Reasoning sub-tests. The Mathematics Knowledge section covers mathematical concepts and applications and the Arithmetic Reasoning sub-test gauges your ability to solve basic math problems.
Grasp the concepts of Electronics. This section tests your knowledge of basic electronics such as currents and circuits. It also covers electrical systems and devices.
Learn about Auto and Shop Information. Here, you will be tested on auto maintenance and repair techniques as well as common practices in wood and metal shops.
Study Mechanical Comprehension. This sub-test includes basic knowledge of mechanical devices and their properties.
Practice Assembling Objects. These are problem-solving activities designed to measure your spatial relations and problem solving abilities.
