Sign up for GED testing through the state's online application. Provide all required information, including name, age, address, phone number, last level of education completed and testing availability. Submit your form and wait for notification on whether your application was approved.
Search the DOE web site for the location of free GED preparation materials, which are typically available in public libraries, at adult education centers and on the Internet.
Open a new browser window and type "Free GED Study" or "Free GED Practice" into the search bar of your favorite search engine. Review the study courses and read through the terms of service thoroughly before signing up to ensure there are no hidden fees. Most courses, even free ones, should include a GED study and preparation guide in addition to one or more GED practice tests.
Sign up for the course of your choice and practice as suggested daily. Check on the status of your GED testing application.
Show up at the local testing facility on time and prepared as outlined in any paperwork sent to you from your state's Department of Education. Take your GED test and wait for your results.
