Obtaining your GED is not only practical for professional purposes, it also can enhance your sense of accomplishment. Whether you enroll in a local GED class or search for online help, it's best to prepare as much as possible before you take the test. A plethora of free online resources are available to help you with practice testing, study advice and activities.
  1. GED Testing Service

    • The American Council on Education's website contains quiz questions that are designated study tools for each area of the GED. After clicking on the areas of study, you are directed to sample questions similar to those on the actual test. You can also learn how to use acceptable calculators and view a list of formulas that will be present on the test. An official standard practice test is available at the bottom of the web page.

    GED Connection

    • LiteracyLink is a company associated with the broadcast station Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The goal of the LiteracyLink website is to provide free information for future GED test takers. The website is extensive, including modules for the various areas of subject matter. Each module contains information, activities and quiz questions after each area is completed. A final quiz is given at the end of each module. Workbooks to accompany the website are for sale online. There is also a link to the PBS network, which lists viewing times of LiteracyLink shows that are aired in your area.

GED Quick Guide for the Classroom

    • Provided by Northwest LINCS, the website GED Quick Guide for the Classroom is free to the public. The website offers portals to sample GED tests and individual lessons for math, science, reading and writing. Online tutoring is also available via the website for help with sample essays and mathematical equations. Activities such as test preparation review and Casio calculator education are also available, as well as a list of helpful formulas.

    GED Help

    • Sponsored by LearningTrends, GED Help is a site designed to educate and motivate GED test takers. An extensive series of lessons are provided, free of charge, for each subject area. Only after you pass certain lessons will others open up. This website allows you to work and learn at your own pace.
