What did all really savy students do when mimeographed tests were handed out in school?

Savvy students who knew mimeograph tests were being reused would quickly check for answers faintly showing through from the previous test. They'd look for residual ink or indentations from the previous printing on the next sheet. This gave them a significant advantage, as at least some answers might be visible.
