Register for the GRE on the ETS website at least two months before you want to take test to ensure that you get the date, time and location you want. To register, click on the link in Resources link below and then click "register now." On the page that appears, click "Register Online Now." On the following page, create an account by clicking "Sign Up."
Download the Powerprep software that ETS provides for free. It includes two full GRE tests with answers and scores. It also includes practice lessons and tips on how to study for each section. The two sections are verbal and qualitative. To get the software, click on "Prepare for the Test" on the link in Resources. On the next page, click "Learn more about POWERPREP II Software >," then click "Get the Free POWERPREP" software >."
Download the free hard-copy version of the test prep. Click the link in Resources, then cllick "Prepare for the Test." On the next page, clicking "Download Practice Book for the Paper-based GRE® revised General Test (PDF)."
Click on "Subject Tests" on the link in Resources if you want to also download practice materials for a specific subject exam. These tests are separate from the general GRE and often are required by some schools for particular majors. The subjects tests are biochemistry, cell and molecular biology; biology; chemistry; computer science; literature in English; mathematics; physics; and psychology.
Click on the subject of your choice to be taken to the specific page for that exam. Click "Download the Practice Booklet (PDF)."
