Lay an 8.5-inch-by-11-inch piece of paper on a table.
Fold the piece of paper in half, bringing one of the short edges to the opposite short edge.
Unfold the piece of paper to reveal a crease, marking the middle of the paper.
Fold each short edge to the middle crease.
Unfold to reveal the piece of paper divided into 4 equal parts. Situate the piece of paper horizontally on the table.
Fold the upper-right corner to the middle of the first quarter line crease from the right of the paper. This creates a 60 degree angle at the top.
Fold the upper-left corner to the middle of the first quarter line crease from the left of the paper. With the prior fold, this fold creates a 120 degree angle at the top. Your paper should resemble the shape of a house.
Fold the right short edge of the paper to the upper-right fold line, matching the edges.
Fold the left short edge of the paper to the upper-left fold line, matching the edges.
Flip the paper over, revealing a rhombus shape. You should still be able to see the creased fold lines created from the initial 3 folds.
Fold the right side of the rhombus along the right crease line, folding towards the back of the paper.
Fold the left side of the rhombus along the left crease line, folding towards the back of the paper.
