When did people stop using quills?
Quills were commonly used as writing implements until the mid-19th century when they were replaced by metal nib pens and eventually by fountain pens. Fountain pens first became popular in the late 1800s, but it wasn't until the early 20th century that they became widely used. Some calligraphers still use quills today, but they are generally considered a novelty item rather than a practical tool for everyday writing.
