How to Register for the National Spelling Bee

Long ago, schools held spelling bees as events for the community to rally around. Although they are no longer big news, two national spelling bee competitions are held each year, one for younger and one for older competitors. The E. W. Scripps Company sponsors the other national spelling bee annually for school-age children. The competition begins on the local level and progresses through regional and state competitions before competitors qualify for the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) holds a national spelling bee each year for contestants over the age of 50.
