Read the newspaper or watch the news daily to follow international events. National Geographic says current events questions can come up in the bee.
Print off blank maps from National Geographic Xpeditions so you can practice filling in the names of countries to test your knowledge (see Resources). The bee requires proper identification of countries in all corners of the globe.
Test your knowledge of geography by using the tools on the National Geographic website. The GeoBee offers 10 questions a day to get you up to speed (see Resources). As it gets closer to bee time, the magazine posts sample questions.
Talk to your history, geography or social studies teacher about bee preparation. Your teacher will be glad to help you come up with additional study preparation so you can succeed in the bee.
Learn about the physical and cultural features of different countries, such as the climate, major economies, important historical moments, natural resources, religious affiliation, ethnic diversity and languages spoken. The more you know about a country, the faster you'll be able to narrow down the possible answers to bee questions.
