Bob the Builder Classroom Activities

Bob the Builder is one of the most successful children's shows of the early twenty-first century. Since most children are familiar with the characters, it can make a wonderful theme for a number of classroom activities. Various websites offer options of things to do in class, while a number of standard activities can be amended to include a Bob the Builder theme.
  1. Name Cards

    • When getting started on the classroom activities, it's fun for children to make name cards for their seats. There are templates available online (see Resources), or one can simply instruct children to use the Bob the Builder theme, such as adding hammers or wrenches to their names.

    Word Find

    • A very fun activity for children is to develop either a word find or word scramble game involving the characters of Bob the Builder. Characters like Gripper, Grabber and Tumbler can be used to make an exciting activity.

    Coloring Sheet

    • PDF templates that make great coloring sheets are available from a number of websites (see Resources). The images are specifically designed to be used with either crayons or markers.

    Construction Paper

    • Children can cut out hard hats from yellow paper or work pants from blue. This works on building small-muscle skills.

    Teamwork

    • Legos or other types of construction materials can be used to encourage teamwork and cooperation, as students can be broken up into teams and work on one large Bob the Builder construction project.
