Toddler Games & Crafts

Working with toddlers requires a lot of patience. If you are a teacher or parent looking for games and activities for toddlers, you need to consider a few things. Toddlers have very short attention spans so you need activities that are short. Also, look for games and crafts with few instructions. There are many fun games and crafts you can enjoy with toddlers.
  1. Duck, Duck, Goose

    • An easy game for toddlers is Duck, Duck, Goose. Some toddlers enjoy it because they get to run around and chase each other. You can play this game indoors or outdoors. Have the kids sit on their bottoms in a circle. Pick a child to be "it." Have him will walk around the outside of the circle and lightly tap each child's head and say, "duck." When he is ready, he will tap a head and say, "goose, " and that child will stand up and chase the toddler who tapped his head. The head tapper will run as quickly as he can to make it to the "goose's" spot before being tagged. Play as many rounds as you want.

    Ring Around the Rosie

    • Many toddlers enjoy singing the song and going in a circle. This is a very simple game. Have everyone stand in a circle and hold hands. While holding hands, they all skip in a circle and sing, "Ring around the rosy, pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes, we all fall down." When they sing the last line, everyone falls to the ground. Play this game several times with toddlers so they can learn the song.

    Hand-Print Craft

    • Let your child enjoy working with paint. You can buy canvas aprons or plain, canvas frames. Put different colors of paint on paper plates. Make sure you lay newspaper over the table because toddlers and paint can be very messy. Have them press their hands in the paint. After they get paint on their hands, press them on the canvas. Write their name and date under their hand print. You can also do the same thing with their feet. This craft makes a great keepsake for a parent or teacher.
