Instructions

  1. Conducting a Diversity Training Workshop for Preschool Teachers

    • 1

Design a presentation using Powerpoint. Find a template that best suits the goals of the district or the company which is providing the diversity training. The slides should not be overly busy so as to not take away from the textual points.

    • 2

Start the presentation with a positive. If there is a diversity project in the school or a community-based program, highlight it as an example to strive for.

    • 3

Address stereotypes during the presentation. Motivate participants by praising them.

    • 4

Prepare a plan for teachers to address the diversity in the classroom.

    • 5

Give the preschool teachers something meaningful to remind them daily of their training. Certain things such as a desk calendar is a great reminder which can house quotes and be custom printed with points from the training. If this is too expensive, consider a freebie that, although modest, will be used everyday such as a custom pencil holder, tape dispenser, or mouse pad.
