Instructions

    • 1

Cut an 8 1/2 by 11- inch sheet of card stock into a long 4 1/4 by 11-inch sheet by cutting it in half using scissors before working with preschoolers.

    • 2

Place the 4 1/4 by 11-inch piece of card stock in front of the preschooler and allow him to decorate one side of the paper however he wishes with stickers, crayons and markers. Use the finished creation as a general greeting card.

    • 3

Create a holiday greeting card with preschoolers by sponge painting white tempera paint onto light blue card stock using sponges. Children can dip sponges into white tempera paint in plates and then sprinkle the picture with clear glitter, resembling snow. After the paint has dried, children can use a black marker to draw a snowman on their winter greeting cards.

    • 4

Make a special any occasion greeting card by using preschoolers' hands to decorate the cards. Paint the child's hand with tempera paint and then press it onto the greeting card. Once the paint has dried, the children can sign their names under their hand prints.

    • 5

Decorate a Valentine's Day card by using heart doilies, glue, pink or red paint and glitter. Children can glue heart doilies of various sizes onto the card stock and then paint them with pink or red paint. Sprinkle glitter over the front of the card to finish.

    • 6

Create spring greeting cards using leaves and watercolor paints. Children can go on a nature walk and select leaves to use. Paint one side of the leaf and then press it onto the card stock.

    • 7

Free paint the card stock using watercolor paint for a special written message greeting card. Once the paint has dried, children can use a marker to write a note on the front of the card such as "Happy Birthday," or "I Love You."

    • 8

Help the preschooler fold the long sheet of cardstock in half so it creates a 4 1/4 by 6 inch card with the decorated side on the outside.

    • 9

Open the card and help the preschooler write a special message within the card. Help the preschooler create a note that correlates with the special occasion and allow her to sign her own name.

    • 10

Place the finished greeting cards in envelopes and send them home with the preschoolers or help them mail the cards.
