Write the goals of the lesson by defining teacher expectations of students with sentences such as, "The goal is to connect student learning of colors with multiculturalism through the French language" and "Students are expected to recite colors in French and English by the end of the lesson." Write down the preschool state standards, English Language Learner standards and curriculum that the lesson applies to.
List the student objectives for the lesson such as, "Students will be able to match the French word with a picture of the color," "Students will listen to the French word and point to the corresponding color," or "Students will sing the names of the colors in French and English."
Note prerequisites, including preteaching the names of the colors in English and ensuring students' ability to recognize colors by pointing, coloring or verbalizing.
List materials needed to complete your lesson such as flashcards, crayons, games, books, activities or electronics.
Write down the lesson procedure. Explain how you will introduce the lesson, strategies you will use to teach the lesson -- such as learning centers or computers -- and activities that students will complete throughout the lesson such as matching games, art, visual cards, songs and read-alouds.
Define how you will end the lesson and how you will revisit the topic. Write how you will assess that preschoolers reached the goals, through oral or written assessments or games.
