Create dozens of saxophone ornaments by printing and cutting out pictures of assorted saxophones from the Web. Look for pictures of stand-alone saxophones on a variety of backgrounds, drawings of saxophones, cartoon children and animals playing saxophones and any other saxophone pictures you think are funny or interesting. Use card stock as backing for the ornaments and hole punches for hanging the ornaments on the tree. Felt saxophone cutouts or ornaments made with saxophone stickers are also options.
Create a whole card-making station for your favorite little saxophone enthusiasts filled with felt, card stock, saxophone pictures and coloring pages, and any other embellishments you would like to add, such as red and green glitter. Instruct the children to color the pictures of the saxophones, in regular saxophone gold or Christmas colors, which they can then glue to pieces of folded card stock as Christmas cards. Felt cutouts of saxophones glued to pieces of red felt also make a nice front for a card-stock-backed holiday card.
Have your preschoolers make their very own Christmas tins featuring saxophones. Hand out small plain silver, green and red tins as well as a variety of saxophone pictures and other Christmas images such as Christmas elves, reindeer, snowmen, wreaths, trees, ornaments, cookies and other holiday foods, lights and presents. Instruct the children to create little Christmas scenes on their tins that incorporate saxophones, such as scenes of elves and snowmen playing Christmas tunes on their saxes using glue and Popsicle sticks for application.
Hand out Christmas-colored napkin holders onto which the children can glue pictures of saxophones for more unconventional Christmas napkin holders. Tell the children they can present the holders as Christmas gifts to their parents. Place cards made from folded card stock featuring a Christmas saxophone are another idea. Instruct the children to draw or glue an image of a Christmas wreath on the card stock. They can then place an image of a saxophone over the wreath for a Christmas-saxophone image. The names can go at the bottom or top of the place cards.
