Invite preschool students to bring a special item to Sunday school. Read John 6: 5-13 about a little boy who shares his food with many or tell the story in simple terms. Direct the students to sit in a circle and tell them they will have a chance to share. Let each child take a turn telling the group about the special item he has brought to class. After a child has spoken, instruct him to pass the object around the circle and allow each child to look at it. Promise to watch and ensure that no one keeps or damages the treasure.
Once all students have shared their objects, remind them that they have shared their treasure just like the little boy shared his food.
Read Proverbs 22:9 or paraphrase it and ask preschoolers if they would want someone to share food with them if they were hungry. The scripture says those who share are blessed. Give each student a sheet of paper to draw ways in which they are blessed. Remind the students to share crayons and art supplies.
After the pictures are done, invite the children to share food and supplies. Have one student share napkins with each student and ask two or three students to share cookies or crackers with other students.
Read Luke 2: 6-7 or read the nativity out of any children's Bible story book. Show the preschoolers a Nativity scene with Jesus in the manger. Explain that the animals shared the manger that held their food with Mary and Joseph so the baby Jesus would have a bed. Show them the animals that lived in stable such as the cow, ox and sheep. Ask the students how the animals might have felt about sharing.
Have the preschoolers color an activity page that depicts the infant Jesus in the manger.
Tell the story found in 2 Kings 4: 1-17 to the preschoolers. Explain that Elisha traveled for God and that he needed a place to stay and food to eat. Talk about the blessings two families received for sharing what they had. Ask students what they need when they travel to Grandma's house or another relative's home. Ask if someone shares a bed with them or food.
Give the preschoolers a coloring page showing a bed and food that says, "God blesses me when I share."
