Winter Craft Activities for Preschoolers

The weather has turned cool and you're stuck inside, but preschoolers can stay entertained all day with craft activities. Display their crafts in your classroom to add extra color during dreary winter months, or have children give them as gifts during the holidays.
  1. Snow

    • Cutting out snowflake shapes helps preschoolers practice cutting skills. They can then draw on lines and dots of glue and sprinkle silver glitter on top. You can also have them make easy snow globes out of recycled water bottles. Peel the labels off of bottles, then have children pour glitter into the bottles. They can also pour in sequins or beads. Fill the bottles with water, screw on the tops, and tape them shut. Let children shake them up and watch the "snow" fall.

    Holidays

    • Between Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day, there's always a holiday coming up in winter. Children can make picture frame ornaments by gluing wooden craft sticks into the shape of a frame. They can glue their photos into the frames and give them as gifts. Have children make holiday cards out of construction paper. You can also give them old magazines to cut photos from, then help them glue on the pictures and write in a message.
