How to Recycle Lesson Plans for Pre-K

Don't throw away a school year's worth of Pre-K lesson plans after preschool graduation. Considering all of the care and preparation that Pre-K teachers put into planning educational and engaging lessons, it is a shame to trash them and start from scratch the following year. Each incoming class needs to learn the same skills as the group before. With the addition of new classroom supplies and a bit of tweaking, recycled lesson plans will not seem stale.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather previously used, written Pre-K lesson plans. Read through each one. Cross out activities and lessons that did not work well in your Pre-K class the previous year.

    • 2

Make copies of the form you used to write the original Pre-K lessons. Make one blank form for each lesson plan you will use again.

    • 3

Rewrite the original plans onto the new forms. Do not include the crossed-out sections of the plans. Leave those areas blank.

    • 4

Decide which recycled plans you will use for each month of the upcoming school year. Date the plans according to the months you choose. Stack the plans in the order that they will be used. Punch holes in the stacked recycled lesson plans and clip them into a 3 ring binder.

    • 5

As you acquire new Pre-K classroom equipment and supplies, fill in the blanks of your recycled lesson plans form with activities using recent classroom additions.
