Make sure your child is thoroughly potty trained and no longer using pull-ups. Changing pull-ups is not a task that kindergarten teachers engage in unless your child is in a "special needs" program. Remind him to wash and dry his hands and to use hand sanitizer throughout the day. Most public schools provide this for each classroom.
Review her A-B-Cs. While your child does not have to pass an entrance exam to enter kindergarten, it is a good idea to make sure that she can at least recognize and say aloud the alphabet. Most children will already know this when they enter school.
Count with him numbers from one through 30. Use or make flash cards. Have him be able to count in ascending and descending order and recognize these numbers.
Color with her. Review the basic primary colors -- red, blue and yellow. Review the basic secondary colors -- orange, green, purple, brown and neutral colors such as black and white.
Drive by and show your child his new school. Attend any orientation with your child the school may have for its new students. Reassure him that he will like his new school and new teachers. Ease his mind not to be afraid of the "big" school.
