Draw an "F" and tell the class the name of the letter, as well as the sound that it makes. Have the class brainstorm words that begin with the "F" sound. Write their answers on the board.
Give your students old magazines and blunt-edged scissors. Instruct them to cut out pictures that begin with the letter "F." Glue the pictures to a class poster and display it on the wall.
Squirt a mound of shaving cream onto each child's desk or in front of each student sitting at a table. The mound should be about the size of two eggs. Have your students trace an "F" in the shaving cream. This gives them a visual and tactile experience of writing the letter.
