How to Create a Daisy Field Geometry Project

Toddler age children practice early geometry concepts by learning to identify, label and match basic shapes like squares, circles and triangles. As they approach preschool and kindergarten age, children are able to finish simple patterns and use shapes to build other objects. Make a daisy field geometry project with preschool children to increase math skills.

Instructions

    • 1

Give the child a selection of white and yellow foam triangles and a piece of construction paper. Foam shapes are found pre-cut in large quantities at craft stores.

    • 2

Show the children how to use triangles in an alternating color pattern to make the petals of a daisy. Glue the triangles to the paper. The triangles can be glued with the points in or out to make the petals.

    • 3

Glue an orange foam circle in the middle of the petals for the center of the daisy. Draw a flower stem with a green marker.

    • 4

Glue a green triangle to the stem, about halfway down, for a leaf. The point can turn in or out on this as well.

    • 5

Make grass by gluing a pattern of small green shapes along the bottom of the paper. Use two shapes like a square and a circle for a simple repeating pattern, or make it more challenging with three shapes like a heart, a star and a diamond.

    • 6

Repeat the process of making flowers until the page is full. One piece of construction paper should hold three to five daisies depending on the size of the foam pieces you use.
