Select an age-appropriate story to read aloud to the preschool children that centers around the topic. Chose a topic that is interesting enough to capture the attention of young children, such as jungle animals, insects, dinosaurs, seasons or sign language.
Create an art project that reflects the information involved in the lesson. Assemble a variety of art supplies that the children will need for their creations. Bring in magazines for the children to cut pictures out of to create a collage, or print coloring pages for the children to decorate with paints, markers or crayons.
Incorporate a physical activity that allows the children to spend time up and out of their seats. Create your own version of duck, duck, goose, and change the animal names to those that you've just studied. Alternatively, assign each child a specific dinosaur to emulate, and allow them to growl, roar and lurch around the playground as they imagine what their dinosaur might have done in its day.
Include a memorization activity that reinforces the information you've imparted to your students. Teach the children a limited number of facts each day, and quiz them during the course of the week to improve their retention. For example, teach them two or three sign language alphabet letters each day, and review them all week long.
