Use a paper plate to make a crown for preschoolers that has frogs at the top. Let the kids paint the paper plate green like a frog and allow it to dry completely. Place the plate top-side down and cut a diagonal slit; start 1 inch from the edge of the plate, cut across the plate and stop 1 inch from the other edge. Cut another slit in the same manner that crosses over the middle of the first slit, making a large “X” on the plate. Make two more slits, forming another “X” between the lines of the first one. Push the slits upward so you have triangles peeking out from the top of the paper plate. Attach small frog pictures that the kids cut out of magazines or you found online to the peaks of the triangles.
Upload a picture of the frog from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” to place in the center of a little girl's or boy's crown. Print the picture small so it will fit in the center of a child’s crown. Distribute tiaras to the girls and crowns for the boys. Give each child art supplies, such as glitter, puffy paint and markers, to decorate their crown. When complete, help the children glue the picture of the uploaded frog to the center of the crown.
Give each child a 24-inch-long by 5-inch-wide piece of construction paper. Help each child measure their head size by wrapping the paper around her head and stapling the ends of the construction paper together so it is tight against the head. To create the crown shape, help the children draw a zigzag shape along the top of the crown for the crown peaks. When complete, give each child various art materials, such as markers, glitter and stickers of frogs, to use to decorate the crown .
Pass out green pipe cleaners to each child. The number of pipe cleaners will depend on the circumference of the child’s head. Twist the pipe cleaners together to create the base of the crown. Next, attach pipe cleaners to the base and point them upward. You can leave the pipe cleaners long or trim them down. Attach frog pictures from magazines or online to the tips of the pipe cleaners that are pointing upward.
