How to Make a Zig Zag Craft for Pre-School

Preschoolers have active minds that are constantly engaged in learning, and it does not take much to open them up to a whole new world. A simple craft that teaches them what zig-zags are will excite them and broaden their ever-increasing horizons. Depending on the age of you pre-K students, there are various crafts you can do with them in order to have fun with zig-zags while still being safe. You may even find yourself having fun participating in the crafts and watching the children learn as well.

Use your computer to print different zig-zag worksheets you downloaded from the Internet or created on a word-processing program. You can also create the worksheets by hand, especially if your class is small, by using a black pen to make a dotted-line zig-zag across the paper.

    • 2

Have all children use a crayon to trace the zig-zag to the best of their abilities. Some younger kids will not be able to do this perfectly, but that is al right. They are only in preschool, so mistakes will be made, but the children are still learning.

    • 3

Have the kids attempt to draw their own zig-zags on a blank sheet of paper.

    • 4

Help the kids follow the lines on the traced paper to cut out their drawings with the zig-zag scissors. Zig-zag scissors are almost always designed to be child-safe, so some older children may wish to attempt this on their own.

    • 5

Encourage and affirm the kids, regardless of how their projects turn out. This is crucial to developing a healthy mentality and self-image in children. After all, you may be the only positive influence they have in their lives.
