However, if you have your distance measured in feet and your time measured in minutes, you need to convert each of these measures to miles and hours. Only then can you find your speed in mph. With a speed in mph, you can more easily compare to other speeds.

Divide the number of feet by 5,280 to convert to miles. For example, if your distance equals 200 feet, divide 200 by 5,280 to get 0.03788 miles.

Divide the number of minutes by 60 to convert to hours. For example, if you have 3 minutes, divide 3 by 60 to get 0.05 hours.
