What should you do if your ankle hurts while walking in middle school?

While in school:

1. Stop and assess your ankle. If the pain is severe, you should stop walking and elevate your ankle. Apply ice for 15 minutes at a time, every hour, to reduce swelling.

2. Limp to the nurse's office. Walk slowly and carefully, putting as little weight on your injured ankle as possible.

3. Explain your situation to the nurse. Describe the pain you're feeling and when you started experiencing it.

4. Work with the nurse to determine the next steps. The nurse may recommend icing your ankle, using crutches, or taking over-the-counter pain medication. They may also refer you to a doctor for further evaluation.

5. Seek medical attention if necessary. If your pain does not improve or worsens, you should see a doctor. The doctor may order X-rays or other imaging tests to determine the extent of your injury. They may also prescribe medication or recommend physical therapy to help you recover.

Additional tips:

* Wear comfortable, supportive shoes that fit well.

* Avoid activities that put stress on your ankle, such as running or jumping.

* Do ankle strengthening exercises to help prevent future injuries.

* If you're going to be on your feet for a long time, take breaks to sit and elevate your feet.
