Should your three-year-old count to ten and know colors shapes?

While many three-year-olds *can* count to ten and know some colors and shapes, it's not a universal expectation or developmental milestone. Some three-year-olds will easily do this, while others will be further behind. There's a wide range of normal development.

A better question is whether a three-year-old is *developing* these skills. Are they showing an interest in numbers and shapes? Are they making attempts to count or name colors, even if they're not always accurate? That's a much more important indicator than whether they've already mastered counting to ten and identifying all the colors of the rainbow. If a child is showing interest and making progress, that's a positive sign. If there are concerns about a child's development, it's best to consult a pediatrician or child development specialist.
