Set up the projector on a low cart. Adjust the projector so it hits the wall about 2 to 3 feet high.
Position a chair between the wall and the projector pointing to the side. Have the first student sit in the chair so he is parallel to the wall. Slide the child against the back of the chair to help him sit still and keep him from swaying as he sits.
Turn on the projector so the light shines on the child. Adjust the projector as needed so the child's profile shines onto the wall. Change the distance of the projector to the child as needed to adjust the size of his silhouette.
Tape a piece of white paper to the wall so the child's profile shows on it. His entire head needs to fit onto the paper.
Trace the shadow of the child's profile with a pencil onto the white paper. Remind him to sit still during the process. Trace the silhouette quickly before he moves.
Remove the paper from the wall. Cut out the child's silhouette. Trace the child's profile onto a piece of black paper. Cut out the silhouette from the black paper. Glue the black silhouette onto a fresh piece of white paper.
